I started photography in January 2008, when I bought a digital Canon rebel Xt, which came with a 18-55 mm kit lens. In the mean time I have expanded my collection with a 70-300 mm telephoto lens (which I have now upgraded to a 70-200mm f/4 L IS with a 1.4 extender), a 28-135 mm standard zoom (which I have since then sold to buy a 50 mm f/1.4 instead) , a 17-40 mm f/4 L wide angle lens, and the 100 mm macro lens, as well as a canon SD960 for al those occasions you wish you had your camera with you, but found it to big to carry around all the time. In 2010 I bought a second hand canon 5D. At the start of 2011 I bought a 430 EX II flash, which I am using on my 5D for fill flash and maybe to try some portrait photography.

I enjoy taking photo's of architecture and nature.

All the photo's I post are unedited. I do use filters (e.g. circular polarizer, uv) and all the tools my camera provide me, such as experimenting with my white balance settings, but in principal the photo I post is how I took it, and you should be able to take a similar photo. However, since I got my 5D it started shooting in RAW and find myself adding a little extra brightness, saturation and contrast to my photos using paintshop photo pro X3.

I am from the Netherlands. I studied at the University of Leiden and the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. I currently work as a postdoctoral researcher at the Ernest Gallo clinic and Research center of the University of California San Francisco studying alcoholism and addiction
