Slide collector, mainly of Scotland and especially Edinburgh of the 50s and 60s as that's my home town. Interests are Jazz 1920s to 1960 (except Hard Bop droning and Miles Davis and most white 'jazz') with a particular interest in the Kansas City tradition and bebop, birdwatching, German 'classical' singers of the 20s and 30s and B & W films of the 30s to 50s, including 'fim noir' and British comedies. I also am interested in piano music of the classic era, especially Schubert, Liszt and Ravel (but not Debussy). I am a fanatical purist with strong opinions about culture, which I don't really take at all 'seriously' in the way that most people take cultural things seriously.

I'm also interested in the 'was Jesus historical?' question. I also hope to start a company producing only yellow, green and black wine gums.

NOTE: A lot of people fail to realise that if I include the word 'Detail' in the title of a slide, it means there is a larger original available from which it is taken. You can use the tags to find it, as they will usually be identical.

Also I use wherever possible the US system of dates for each photo, usually year and month where known, and these appear first in the title. A few people seem not to notice that these are dates, and not image numbers.

And apart from a few instances, telling me 'Great capture' or 'Great shot' overlooks the fact that only about 3 or 4 of the photos on the stream were actually taken by me. Hence I wil not submit photos to groups that involve 'awards' or 'ratings', as this is irrelevant. I also have hardly any interest in photography as such.

Do not ask for permission to display my photographs on commercial websites or other sites that assume the granting of world-wide rights of reproduction and display etc.. It will not be granted. Nothing personal.

Blogging a single photo is fine, as long as clicking on the photo brings the user to the relevant flickr page, but multiple downloads without prior permission will prompt a request for removal.
