I spend time in my sentimental fascinations, crossing through moments that are not allocated for a particular purpose but for passing through memories, circus tents and squeeze box melodies. I spent a lot of time daydreaming as a child. Making time for my artistic explorations allows me a moment of that again.

I am fascinated with the possibilities of using encaustic wax in my collages. I use fragrant, unrefined beeswax as my medium. It is a very sensuous and infinitely malleable medium. I love the emotional tonalities it gives, the way it diffuses light, the way it provides my little stories the simultaneous feeling of old age and timeless child-like fantasy.

The constant flux of heating and solidifying starts
a dance-like interaction between artist and medium.
The process of applying, scraping down and digging back
to elements of another time (even if it was just moments ago or a few layers beneath a translucent surface) is much like an adult’s memory of being a child, of gathering what is precious and distilling it into memory.
My hope is that you are able to find a daydream in each Quiet Lark.
