Hey, kids! Just a dump for various photos. I love shooting roller derby, or pretty much anything for that matter. I don't do this professionally and don't particularly want to, although if you have a studio or location idea that sounds interesting I'll consider just about anything.

If you're in one of my photos and want to use it for something, it's there - I can send non-watermarked originals if you send me the set name and photo name. If you want to use it in publications or some other sort of work I'd really appreciate a photo credit if possible.

If you're doing something for profit, everything is generally available on a reasonably priced, non-exclusive license depending on the work.

Top ten frequently answered answers:

1) It's not the camera, it's the operator.

2) You need a SLR for sports/derby shooting because they are designed to be operated more quickly (focus, controls, etc) and you can get fast lenses. I find it much easier to compose and shoot using a SLR than trying to look at a little pocket camera. I carry a little Canon pocket camera for candid shots, though. They are awesome for that!

3) Nikon. D700 with a 70-200mm f/2.8 VR zoom, 50mm f/1.8, 20mm f/2.8 or 28-70mm f/2.8, in that order.

4) Because my friends at the time all shot Nikon and so I had access to Nikon glass and not Canon glass.

5) Maybe right now, but then Nikon will leapfrog them again next year, and they will leapfrog Nikon again the year after that, etc etc etc. They are both good cameras. Each has significant pluses and annoying minuses for different types of work and each has their own "style." Each one also feels different in your hand and uses different controls and menus. You may strongly prefer one over the other and since you will be hopefully using it a lot, you will want to give serious consideration to what feels comfortable for you to operate.

6) I guess, but part of the reason to invest in Nikon or Canon is access to their lenses (especially in the case of Nikon and their 50+ year assortment of F-mount glass). Sure you can get Sigma, Tamron, or Tokina for Pentax or whatever but the Nikon/Canon lenses usually work better (but cost more, on the other hand).

7) Alien Bees Cybersync remote triggers, because they cost a lot less than Pocket Wizards and I do not require the advanced features that Pocket Wizard delivers so well.

9) A guitar strap plus parts of a BlackRapid Connect-R and Fasten-R.

9) No, I generally don't do weddings. They are too stressful. Bridezillas scare the crap out of me.

10) Adobe Lightroom; I tried Apple Aperture as well and prefer Lightroom. You may prefer Aperture, it is also a great product but not the one that I want to use. I do use Macs almost exclusively though.
