"Astra Elgin lived in a ramshackle wooden barn that might once have been painted but had long ago been bleached gray by the sun. She had lived there ever since the incident with Carl and the thresher, so many years ago. It wasn't the Plaza, and she knew that, she still knew that much, but it was familiar, even after the roof collapsed, and she didn't have any company over, so that worked out fine."
