Philosophy - life is for living, not documenting, but my memory ain't so good, so I need reminders. I offended an old tutor of mine by calling photos snaps, but that's what they are to me. Snapshots of life. A sunset. A sunrise. A grin. The mess in my living room. Unretouched. Warts and all.

I take photos for fun. It's not about the art for me, and it's definitely not about the equipment. I can't stand it when things become competitive, but paradoxically, I hate to lose. I get frustrated when things don't work like I want them to, more frustrated when people can't teach me to get them that way, but not bothered enough to put the time in to really learn.

Cameras - mostly either my Sony a300 DSLR, or the go-everywhere Fuji FinePix A600. I've been using up some old film with my Agfa Optima Sensor 335 (35mm compact), and my Pentax ME Super SLR. I also have a Lubitel 2 medium format TLR, and a Zorki 4-K rangefinder, which I may get round to using at some point.

35mm black and white stuff is developed by me in the kitchen, usually with Rodinal, and the negs scanned on a Canoscan 3000F. Colour 35mm or any 120 I send away.

However, l do take a lot of pics with my camera-phone. I apologise for that, but as I said, snapshots. I use what I've got handy.

The occasional crop and minor tweak thanks to iPhoto, Picasa and occasionally Photoshop 6.
