If you are interested in contacting me for using my images in books / ads / publications, send me a message on Flickr, or send me an e-mail at: emoryandrebecca@comcast.net
~I am retired and live in the Pacific Northwest USA with my husband, rescued Australian Cattle Dog, Jasmine, and three cats: Keiko, June & Rusty..

~My cameras are constantly changing. Right now I use: Nikon D300s and D3x. [I need to change the photo of me with the D2xs].

*****************************************************************
~My passion is wildlife and pet photography. If you visit my photostream, you will see photo's of animals in the wild. I don't take photo's of birds or animals in captivity.

*****************************************************************
~I am a vegan and environmentalist. I am concerned about the destruction of our planet and plight of animals. I try not to let politics bleed into my photostream....but sometimes it does.
~I hope you enjoy viewing my pics. Please feel free to leave comments, notes and your own pics if applicable. Please do not use any of my photo's without my permission. I am happy to let anyone use my pics if for animal related purposes, but please let me know first.
*****************************************************************
Things you may want to know:
1.If you want to leave comments under my pics, please be respectful in what you say. You don't have to agree with my point of view but be nice or else I will have no choice but to block you.
2 . Periodically, I feel the need to thin my contact list to a managable amount. If I see that you are not taking the time to visit and comment on my photo's, I will reluctantly eliminate you. Please don't be offended if you are dropped...it's nothing personal at all.
3. I can be outspoken and opinionated when it comes to animal and wildlife issues. I apologize ahead of time if I offend anyone with my point of view.

*4*. I love groups that pertain to pets or wildlife. Invitations are great but please don't invite me to groups that require more than one comment per pix. Time restraints won't allow me to participate in groups with too many requirements.
5. If you "fave" my pics but do not have pics on your stream or info at your profile page about yourself--I will assume you are "trolling" for pics and will be blocked.
*****************************************************************
My family:
Please visit their set[s] to see more.
Keiko: Tabby Cat 13 years old.

June: Black & White Cat 8 years old.

Rusty: Orange Cat...age unknown.

Jasmine: Australian Cattle Dog...11 years old.

My dearly departed "Pearl" who crossed the rainbow bridge on December 9, 2009 at age nineteen. She is greatly missed.

*****************************************************************
Animals & Birds are also my favorite subjects:

**Oh...and I love mushrooms too.

Lastly, I am involved in TNR -rescuing feral and stray cats. Please adopt your next pet from your local shelter.

**When I joined Flickr, my screen name was RavenNW. I changed it to Red~Star later. That is why I am sometimes referred to as RavenNW in my testimonials.**

Flickr is a place to marvel at the beauty of each other's images and to share experiences and photographic knowledge. Thank you for visiting to my stream. Red~Star.

"Rebecca is a recently discovered contact, but already one of my favorite people on flickr....not only is she a wonderful photographer, but she is truly a friend to animals everywhere. Her work with TNR and caring for wild/stray kitties is so inspiring and always puts a smile on my face. The world needs more folks like Rebecca!"

"What can I say about Rebecca that hasn't been said before? Her photographic skills are superb; her love for family and friends without equal; however, what I admire about her the most is her selflessness when it comes to animal welfare.
When you visit her stream be ready to spend a few hours looking at her beautiful photos and prepare yourself to be overwhelmed by her love for animals and generosity; for Rebecca has a heart of gold.
I consider it a privilege and honor to know and call her 'mi amiga' - my friend."9th September, 2010

"I haven't been on flickr long, but it's time I jumped in and wrote a few words about the photographers and artists that inspire me in some way. Rebecca is what I'd call a 'photographers photographer'. Her work is so very diverse and her talents are many. I enjoy her 'furbaby' photos and the stories she includes with them-she always captures the animals' personality so well! One thing that impressed me about Rebecca from the start is her passion for wildlife and her dedication to animals. Like myself, she abhors cruelty of any kind and she's not afraid to speak out! That goes a long ways with me. I'm proud to call her my friend, she always takes the time to write out meaningful comments and I always look forward to her unique and delightful photos. Thanks for being such a good friend Rebecca and happy trails to you :)"

"When I joined Flickr in 2008, I quickly discovered Red Star’s photos on a MyYahoo RSS feed to “We are the Cat People”. I was extremely impressed with her photographic and artistic talents. I share her compassion and love for animals.
As time passed, we became friends. Her artistic and photo talents keep soaring higher and higher. She is an outstanding photographer!
In 2003, it was necessary for me to go on Social Security Disability due to Hepatitis C and other medical issues. I have an overwhelming love for cats. In July 2008, my cat family brought home a stray beat up circa 7months old kitten. I willingly adopted him; after he allowed me to inspect the extent of his injuries. Being on disability, I am only able to work part-time. Rebecca has stepped in on two occasions to help with needed vet care for Tommy. Without her help and encouragement, Tommy would have reverted to being a feral tomcat, doomed to a short life span. I can never thank her enough for her help with Tommy cat.
Rebecca strives for harmony in her home and with nature. Her inner peace shines thru her beautiful photography. She is a positive inspiration for all her Flickr contacts and others, who visit her photostream. Thank you, Rebecca, for sharing your life thru your photos, words, and videos on Flickr!"24th May, 2009

"I was going to send Rebecca an email telling her how much I admire her for her tenacity and dedication but thought, why not a testimonial? She certainly deserves one. Rebecca sets extremely high standards for her own photography while, at the same time, being extremely generous with praise and support for the rest of us. She takes the time to visit every one of her contacts every day when time allows which, in itself, is commendable. Thank you, Rebecca, for your invaluable contribution to the flickr community. It is so much richer because of you."

"I first heard about Rebecca through a friend of mine. He suggested that since I love to photograph wildlife that I check out her page. Let me say that a day does not go by that I look forward to seeing her latest photo's.
Her work has inspired me to become a better photographer and now I find myself really becoming my hardest critic to my work as when I see Rebecca's
I see that there are no cut corners or nothing less than stellar photography. I see the feel she has in her work and I strive for that in mine. Rebecca I cant thank you enough for sharing your photography as it will always be an inspiration to mine."11th May, 2008

Her enthusiasm for stimulating thought provoking discussions concerning issues of wildlife, homeless domestic animals and environmental issues arouses the passions of all her fans. When she comments on your photos, it is straight from the heart. "Red~Star is a bright and shining star. I truly mean this. She is always there for everyone. She shares her beautiful pets, and her life stories with you through her fantastic photographs. I mean, fantastic! I think she is one of the finest photographersand artists I have ever seen, and she is a most kind, sincere and generous person. I don't believe she has a selfish bone in her body. She comments on my photographs all the time...and on so many others too...she makes you feel special. I feel very priveledged to know her here on flickr, and hope I will know her for some time. She was one of the first people I met when I was new on here last year. How fortunate can one get?
Rebecca, thanks for all you have given me. I feel as though I can never return all you have given me. Your kind words and your most beautiful images,. You have made me laugh a lot..with your doings with Jasmine...tooooo funny sometimes! I've learned a lot from you too. You're a brilliant woman who loves, loves red. (I find that very cute!) Thanks for letting me be a part of your flickr experience. You have enriched my life. Basically, I think you rock!!

"Rebecca is a fantastic photographer! I love to see her fun postings of Jasmine, June, Pearl and Keiko - her furry family! but most of all, I love her photos of wild animals and birds - they are always fantastic, but also can be thought-provoking! she has a knack of not only making us really look at the details of her photograph, but also has us discussing what is behind the photograph - she get's us thinking and sharing ideas and opinions! and Rebecca's comments on other people's photos are always cheerful and meaningful - and she isn't shy to ask questions either! I feel honoured to call Rebecca a true flickr friend:-)"

"Where to start? There are so many amazing things that make Rebecca the wonderful person she is.
I was first attracted to her photo stream when I read a comment she left on someone else's photo. I went to her stream and have being visiting every day since!
She takes the most creative and colourful photo's of her happy, rescue dog Jasmine and of her two gorgeous cats! Her pictures are bright and funny and technically perfect!
Her superb wildlife photographs have also kept me coming back, they are awe inspiring! These are not just "lucky shots" of a hawk or coyote. They are always masterfully executed, beautifully lit and simply gorgeous compositions over all!
I see Rebecca's 'red star' in several of the communities I'm in and she always leaves the most thoughtful, detailed comments on my photographs as well as others.
It's so obvious through her pictures that Rebecca is a compassionate, thoughtful and talented person who has a passion for helping animals.
It's been a joy to get to know her and I look forward every day to see what outfit she has on Jasmine. That always puts a smile on my face!
Thank you Rebecca!"18th December, 2007

"I think I have got to know Rebecca quite well now as a contact but even more so as a friend and in that time i have I have come to know her style of photography as well, she always has a good word and comments to say about other peoples work. Rebecca is in my opinion one of the most accomplished of nature and animal photographers on flickr, her cat and dog images are just superb and the expressions she manges to get make me look in wonder, as well as the serious side of wildlife rebecca also have a great sense of humour and this shows in her images, they make me smile and brighten up my day on seeing them, it has been a supreme honour and a privilege to have Rebecca as friend and a contact I eagerly look forward to seeing more of the same.
