I'm an amateur novelist, amateur screenwriter, amateur photographer, physics and computer engineering major, and all around nerd. I do not use a flash, except for family snapshots. I still shoot on film because I prefer the look of film and quality DSLRs are expensive, but if quality photo labs continue to disappear I may switch to digital. I am a Christian. My photographic inspirations come mainly from cinema (Kubrick, Malick, Fellini, Keaton, Chaplin, Fellini) but some photographers I like include Henri Cartier-Bresson and Ansel Adams (though I admire Adams more for his technical writing on photography rather than his art, which I must admit leaves me cold).

All my pictures of nature are taken and displayed for the glory of God. After all, it's His work, I just find a nice way to frame it.

I live in central Ohio right now.

UPDATE: With all of the labs going dry and the remaining labs either of poor quality or too expensive, I had no choice but to switch to digital to make my photography habit feasible. I have bought a used Canon EOS 20D. Yes, it's a six-year-old model but I need a bigger-than-Rebel camera for my big hands and the 20D was affordable on my student budget.

UPDATE 8/10/10: Unless I'm in broad daylight and can use very fast shutter speeds, my tremor is ruining too many pictures. Even with a tripod, merely pressing the shutter button is shaking the camera too much and leading to blurring. So from now on every picture I take must be a) on a tripod and b) snapped with a shutter release cable. Obviously this will mean taking longer to set up shots.

UPDATE 7/05/11: I haven't posted any new pictures in a while and that's cuz a) I haven't been inspired and b) my PC crashed, leaving me without Windows and without my normal workflow. I can use GIMP on Linux but not DPP and I am getting somewhat different results since calibrating my monitor with Linux is a bit different. The main thing is that I lost a whole bunch of custom curves that I relied on a lot, so I've had to start from scratch with the main tool of my workflow.
