Raevennan Husbandes is an acoustic singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist hailing from the East of our Capital. Having moved around the South East and beyond, she finally decided to settle in the humble town of Lowestoft with her mother, an artist, and two crazy Springer Spaniels – and not forgetting her plethora of guitars, banjos and other wonderful instruments.
Having such a mixed heritage, with a Welsh/Irish mother and Barbadian father, Husbandes has grown up around a mixture of different music. Dancing around the living room of her home in Walthamstow to Reggae, Soca, R & B and the amazing sounds of Luther VanDross, Gladys Knight, and singing along to Stevie Nicks, Kate Bush, Tori Amos and Simon & Garfunkle. Husbandes has clearly been influenced by her early life.
Husbandes recently moved back to London to complete studies in Music, and it was there – at the hub that is Brunel University – that she met her guitarist, Sarah, and Dobro player, Chris. Incorporating the sounds of influential artists such as James Taylor, Alison Krauss and Nick Drake, Raevennan Husbandes brings more than just folk to your ears. When asked to describe Husbandes and her live sound, one audience member said:

“Think: the guitar skills of James Taylor, the intriguing and unusual patterns of Joni, sprinkle it with a dash of jazz and throw in some soul. A voice like I’ve never heard before – watch out for this girl, she’ll go far.”

With one more year left at University, Husbandes is concentrating on recording, producing a studio album and continuing to bring her music to the ears of music lovers all over London and beyond.
