**flickr member since December 2004. I'm what you call "old school." :)**

Please, PLEASE be respectful and DO NOT use my photos without my express written consent. I've been finding my photos all over the place and while I'm flattered that people like them, I don't appreciate people using them without me saying it's ok. Thanks!
I grew up on Lookout Mountain in north Georgia and married my high school sweetheart at age 17. We've been married for over 24 years and have two children.
I've been taking photos since I was 8 when my parents bought me my first camera for Christmas: a Kodak 110. I've pretty much had a camera in my hand ever since.
I now use Canon cameras: a 30D, a 7D, & an S2 IS that I keep by my side all the time. Sometimes I use my daughter's old, cheap Olympus FE-100 point and shoot - it takes perfect macro shots.
I am crazy about photography. I'm so blessed to live where I live: I'm within 2 hours of the Great Smoky Mtns. National Park, Nashville, Birmingham, Atlanta, Knoxville, and there's all sorts of beautiful things to shoot around here - if only one has the time.
I love shooting nature & wildlife. My favorite subjects are butterflies, insects & spiders. I love macro photography. I don't much care to shoot people though; makes me nervous.
For editing I use Photoshop CS4 and Picasa, which is a terrific free program from Google (www.picasa.com). I only do basic editing; I don't do anything that dramatically changes my photos. I like them to be "as shot." There's nothing WRONG with people using editing software to make their photographs pieces of art by doing major editing, but that's just not for me. :)
My other hobbies include camping, hiking, Geocaching, & birding.
I love the colors green and orange, the ocean, fall, winter, and being in the woods. I listen to Fleetwood Mac when I cook and clean, and sing horribly with songs on the radio. :)
I read a lot, love my subscriptions to Birds & Blooms, Southern Living, Country, and Popular Photography. I would be a full-time student if I could afford it.
I love the Lord and thank him daily for the blessings that I receive. :)
I want to add that I'm slow about answering emails when I get them, but I WILL answer them. :)
Also, I don't just add a contact so I can have two gazillion contacts on here. It's important to me to take the time to look at the photos of my contacts and to comment on them.
If I comment on your photo it's because I have been touched by your photo, not to get notice for myself. I hope that you add me for the same reason, not as just a notch on your flickr belt. ;o)
My goal is to learn from my peers and to become a better photographer. I'm inspired by the people I have met on here and I truly cherish your friendship.
Thanks for looking!

"Even though I've not met Rachel in person, I feel like I know her. She has this incredible eye for capturing the extraordinary in everyday events and her surroundings, and it is inspiring to be around someone who exudes that kind of joy simply by enjoying her life to its fullest and sharing little beautiful bits of it with others. I'm glad that she was among the first folks I "met" on Flickr when I joined!"

"We have "known" Rachel for close to 2 years here on Flickr. Her photographs never cease to be amazing. She has an artistic ability to capture nature, her family, animals, really, anything that gets in front of her lens, and they turn out beautifully. Her wittiness and the love she feels for her family just shine through in all her photos. You are a pleasure to know and we look forward to many, many, more wonderful shots to fill your photo stream!"

"I don't know if there is anything I could say to top some of the other wonderful comments, but I think Rachel's photos show her deep love for life and family. Her images capture the pure essence of color and emotions that never seem to be plastic or staged. I haven't known Rachel very long, but what I have grown to know of her is that she is the kind of person that portrays all those good qualities in her shots. She has to feel them to get them. I am glad I have gotten to know you and look forward to knowing you more. Vicki"

"Visiting Rachel’s photostream is like visiting the best of Americana. She invites you into her life, introduces you to her family and shares her life in the most delicious way. With her eye for light and life she lovingly shares her corner of the world through her photographs. It’s honest talent and Southern Hospitality at it’s very best. So grab a piece of apple pie and make yourself comfortable. You’ll be glad you came by for a visit."

"Even though Rachel is a big chicken poo poo, she does know how to use a camera to it's full potential and often uses her local surroundings as subjects. She loves her kids and it's obvious in her neeto cheeto photos of them. Keep up the good work."

"What a wonderful photographer. I've really enjoyed "flipping" through her photos. She captures so much in every shot...things that most people would miss.
And as a local Savannahian, I must say that she's really captured the beauty and charm of our fair city. The photos she's taken are breathtaking."26th February, 2006

"Rachel is one of the very first people I met on Flickr. What can you say about someone like Rachel? She's extremely talented with her camera. At any given time, her photos can make you laugh, make you cry, inspire you (thanks Rachel for a zillion ideas for new photos), motivate you and so on.
She is a truly sweet and truly witty person and I for one am glad she's here.
Let me add this, if you don't take the opportunity to look far back into her photostream, you'll miss some true masterpieces.

"Rachel is a dear woman with such a passion and talent for photography. It is always a pleasure to open up Her Flickr site and to see the world through the eyes She looks through. i am still very much a newbie to this photography thing, and Rachel is always right there to encourage me, even when i don't feel my shots are up to par. Although i have never met Her, i feel like i know Her, as well as Her family and surroundings because of Her pleasent comments and photos. We may be a generation apart and from different parts of the nation, but i think Rachel is the kind of person i could easily be friends with. The kind that You just go over to spend time together, laugh about little things, eat some yummy cookies, and enjoy life.
Thanks Rachel!
