Photos are anchor points for memories. The more distant the memory, the more accurately the photograph seems to reflect the reality. That's probably because memories fade even faster than those color pictures from the '70s that all look now like they were taken at sunset. Hey, I can hardly remember what color my hair was last month. The photos here are all more or less accurate records of what various cameras thought reality looked like at the time.
