They have re-arranged the world to put themselves in front of you.
They never asked for your permission, don’t even start asking for theirs."

"The images showcased here.....
www.flickr.com/ph...
and here.....
www.flickr.com/gr...
constitute some of the strongest photographic images I've come across ever. The color being the first of a number of outstanding qualities.
Much of the color contained here parallels the striking color often seen in abstract expressionist paintings. It isn't the color of nature but the color of paint. In many cases paint on the the backdrop of rusted hulks of ships where I believe I read Andre makes many of his photographs. That industrial strength kind of color that comes from a can. And it contains the textures not necessarily found in nature. Much of it being the texture of the painted surface.
If I wasn't familiar with Andre's images I would have said these were paintings on canvas. The are framed (read:cropped) in a similar manner that allows the painter to freely create and compose anything that their imagination can create. The unrestricted, uncompromising form of color.
The letters, words, symbols and scribbles are that of industry. A secret code know only by those for whom they were inscribed. Drips and sags and leftover residue left as messages from construction or reconstruction. Insignias incorporated on the surfaces from a great industrial era.
Some folks can pull off single images now and then. Little strokes of genius. I feel it takes an acute understanding and dedication to create the consistency of the images we see here. Certainly Andre has found his own unique voice. Something that is referred to as "style" in the more commercial world of photography. Can anyone here glance at their contact's uploads and not immediately recognize Andre's signature?
Moreover these images are not just repetitions. Each has its own unique presentation. A delight for the eye as one moves from image to image. A little twist here, a little surprise there. Certainly each easily exists individually on its own merit.

""the unbearable lightness of seeing" was one of my first flickr-contacts and is still one of my dearest ... André is a wonderful photographer who really paints with his lenses and camera. I don't know how he does it but each picture looks like a wonderfully composed abstract painting ... I can't stop faving your beautiful photos, André, and I hope that there are many more to come!"
