500th on Flickr

Hungarian photographer, currently living in Budapest.

Photography is like a continuous meditation to me.

A wonderful, creative tool that helps me get to know myself better and sometimes, when it works, it can sooth my soul.

When I’m on the field I try not to think too much, I try to empty my mind and just to be there on the spot, in the moment relying on visuality, intuition and creativity.
In moments like these I manage to find or notice an unexpected or previously unseen detail in the city of Budapest where I live and take most of my pictures.

For me photography can never be boring and the world around me is an unlimited source of themes. I know it sounds like a cliché but all you need is light and the perfect
moment to create a theme. All you need is to look at things from different perspectives and be on the move all the time.

"I've gotten in the habit, whenever I see a particularly creative or gentle wallscape on Flickr, to enthusiastically refer the poster to Sonofsteppe's photos. Check those out, you might like them too! Flickr has a blissfully large array of photographers with a preference for the abstract decay and melancholy geometrics that walls offer, but I haven't seen one yet with as convincing a hand for it as Sonofsteppe.

Of course it's not all walls - there are other fragments of cityscapes too, set in equally sensitive compositions. He has a feel for the city, its forgotten neighbourhoods, and for the frayed edges of town, where field, factory and railway yard meet. I like to imagine him as rambling through parts of town ignored by others, and finding the hidden beauty in each; the telling detail, the exact fragment that sets the mood.

His photos are equal parts brain and heart. His knack for striking minimalism is obvious; the balance, composition, and abstraction. But unlike many other carefully structured minimalisms, Sonofsteppe's photos have as much feeling as style. I dont know him, but Im pretty sure he is a gentle soul, with a big heart and a melancholic love for his city."

a shadow of my future self says:

"Compelled by the thumbnail of '15 rivet A knob' in the monochrome (colour) pool, which in itself is a rare beauty of a photo, I came by sonofsteppe's stream and am immediately impressed.

Then I saw that baboon* has been here too. What more can I say. baboon*'s taste and judgement are second to none and he's got it right already!

    Good to meet you sonofsteppe."
