I'm a physician in Southern California specializing in psychiatry for the last 18 years.

I have been involved in film photography beginning about 20 years ago when my daughter was growing up. However, building a private practice and the responsibilities of a family took a priority above my photography hobby until last year. I've since bought numerous digital photographic gear, and have learned as much as I can through seminars, books and the internet.

My current interest is in landscape photography but I've also been drawn to portraits and people in general. My kids don't like posing for me anymore so I have to find other willing subjects. Even my 2 dogs have grown tired of posing:) So by necessity, I've had to learn how to photograph nature around me. This is not so bad, though, since I'm learning to really appreciate God's work through visualizing and capturing nature and its beauty.

I like realism which I can achieve using a light-handed use of HDR (not the overkill seen so commonly in most HDR groups.) I find the use of filters cumbersome but love post processing; sort of akin to painting. It allows me to make interpretations in an unhurried way letting my thoughts and feelings evolve as the image takes shape. I find this part of the process very rewarding.

I hope that these photos inspire you as other photos have done so for me. If I can helpful in any way, please don't hesitate to ask me questions about my techniques.
