Project SAVE Armenian Photograph Archives' photostream |
Project SAVE Armenian Photograph Archives is a nonprofit archival organization whose mission is to collect, document, preserve, and present the vintage and modern photographic record of Armenians and those of Armenian heritage.
Project SAVE Archives seeks to promote greater knowledge of the history and culture of Armenians and Armenian-Americans. Project SAVE Archives’ growing holdings (more than 30,000 photographs in 2009) date from the 1860’s and record the life of Armenians in Historic Armenia in the Ottoman, Russian, and Persian empires, follow them into diaspora in the wake of the genocide in the early part of the 20th century, and continue with their lives in the United States.
Project SAVE Archives shares its wealth of historical material with the general public in a variety of ways
•presenting photograph exhibits and lectures
•producing special publications
•providing copies of photographs to publishers, libraries, news organizations, other archives, and the general public
•serving as a research institution for independent researchers, museums, universities, and any other interested parties
•serving as a source of information for other groups and organizations interested in doing similar archival work
Project SAVE Archives would like to thank those whose generous support has made digitizing its collections possible: the Manoogian Simone Foundation, the Bilezikian Foundation, and the Thomas A. Kooyumjian Family Foundation.
