poster for tomorrow is the main project of 4tomorrow, an independent, non-profit organisation based in Paris.
Our goal is to encourage people, both in and outside the design community, to make posters to stimulate debate on issues that affect us all. In our previous two editions we have received over 4,000 posters from 81 countries and hosted more than 70 exhibitions in 5 continents.

It all started in 2009 as a way for a group of designers to draw attention to the censorship that people across the world suffer from, but grew into an international movement to campaign for every man and woman’s right to freedom of expression and later for the abolition of the death penalty.

This is what our ambassador for 2011, Jack Lang, the former French Minister for Culture and Education said this about this year’s edition:

"poster for tomorrow provides charities and good causes with the means to harness a most powerful tool to raise awareness. One year, it's the abolition of the death penalty, the next, the right to education for all. I am honoured to be an ambassador for this initiative; an initiative that fights for social progress."

We've chosen posters because, on a basic level, they are easy to make and distribute. On a wider level, they’re an attractive and accessible platform to express thoughts, engage people in debate and create discussion across the whole spectrum of society.
