I spent almost 40 years in the broadcast and audiovisual industry. However trained as a professional photographer I started my career as a film editor with the Dutch National Broadcaster (NOB) in 1964

Later I worked as a freelance cameraman/editor and was one of the first users of portable video cameras in the early seventies.

In 1976 I established my own production company. Mainly specialising in sports and maritime subjects.

In 1990 I became one of the first users who edited video/film in the computer and not with the aid of a computer to control decks and was head-hunted in the same year by Avid Technology Inc, where I worked as an product-specialist and evengalist for 12 years in Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Asia. At Avid I helped to develop NewsCutter, AirPlay, FilmComposer and EditCam a joint product with Ikegami.

Today I have returned to my roots using all the knowledge I gathered. As a photographer I learned to think of the power of the single picture and how to compose that picture within the 4 lines of the frame. As an editor I learned how to tell a story, it really does matter what the order of shots is. As a cameraman I learned to make the shots so it can be cut in any way and the editor and director can tell their story. As a producer/director I learned to accept that hings are not always as you envision them and need to compromise.
I was already convinced that technology as such is not important, content is what matters.
