Inherited dad's manual SLR film camera , (Yashica FX3), nearly 30 years ago and although spent much time twiddling with aperture and shutter speed dials, I only really used the camera for holidays and odd walking trips. Always meant to learn more.....

Finally got a digital camera in 2008, (Nikon D80). Initially used it like a 'film' camera, i.e. most of the earlier photos posted are as taken, although digital is giving me the opportunity to take an even larger volume of unmemorable photos and just pick out the slightly better ones!

Doing a few simple things with Photoshop Elements now and aiming to learn more and keep practicing all round.!

I tend to take photos of anything which strikes me, although it currently seems to fall into categories of:- out and about in town and country; attempts at capturing some more interesting light; churches inside and out; a few funny sheep and cows etc and one or two swans; flowers; and, loading up a few old film slides and negatives. Also, trying to question what makes a picture worth looking at - is it light, texture, shape, distinctive colour, giving information, something funny or unusual etc etc? I guess however, regardless of the end result of the pictures, photography is a great tool to make us really look at the world around us.

Flickr can be obsessive! It works on many different levels - a huge encyclopedia of information and ideas for sharing, facility for learning and opportunities for virtual world travel! So many wonderful photos - really something to inspire.
