My background is in IT and I guess that geek factor has led me into photography. I have always had an interest in photography and got on the digital bandwagon early, buying a Chinon Es-3000 or maybe even earlier model back in the mid 94. A number of Digital point and shoots later, I bought a DSLR about 3 years ago as I was finding none of the pictures of my kids were ever what I wanted. Both my daughters are active in sports and the point and shoot was just not capturing what I wanted.

For the past 3 years I have been focused on shooting hockey, paintball, skateboarding, snowboarding but have grown tired of being shot and hit with equipment. So my goal for 2009 was to challenge myself to be creative with my photos and learn some lighting techniques to help with that. Over the past month I have been really focused on looking at other peoples photos to see what it is I like in a photo and I have come to the conclusion texture and colour are what are important to me when looking at a shot.

Currently I am shooting nikon D2x with a SB900 and SB600 speed-lights with umbrellas and stands. Need to add an su-800 or remote triggers so I can get both flights off camera but that will have to wait a bit

Would really like to chat with some fellow Nikon users as i tend to have a ton of questions .
