Pixelh8 (pronounced "pixel hate") is an act which started life as a side project to Matthew Applegate's Hidden Fortress. Pixelh8 is one of many of Matthew's "characters", this one with a specific love/hatred of video games, toys, and educational toys, combining elements of Circuit Bending, reverse engineering and Chip Tunes.

Pixelh8 combines the sounds of video games and toys, often those that have been reverse enginereed to avoid either copyright infringement or plagerism to form original compositions. Pixelh8 has also used self made video game software like Pixelh8 Music Tech Gameboy Synth.

Like many artists, Pixelh8 started off relatively unknown on Myspace and was widely discovered after entering a competition to open for Imogen Heap on her UK tour.

Pixelh8 continues to release music on the record label Hidden Youth Records and is currenty working a series of hardware items for various vintage consoles. Such as the Pixelh8 Music Tech Gameboy Synth for the gameboy and the Pixelh8 Music Tech ZX Synth for the zx spectrum.

Pixelh8 is also known for his "diary of madness" on youtube.com which looks into circuit bending and chip tune music via a video blog.
