Pirecco (Ricardo Trombini Pires) Porto Alegre, Brazil 1984

Illustrator and artist with a Bachelors’ Degree in Graphic Design, Art Direction, and Advertising from ESPM - Escola Superior de Propaganda e Marketing. Currently living in the southernmost capital of Brazil, Porto Alegre, RS. As a designer, art director, and illustrator he has worked for many years in advertising agencies, design studios, as well as different companies in the fashion arena. These experiences have made a strong impact on his pen, ink and digital compositions. Pirecco possesses a singular rhythm in which a profusion of elements, colors, textures and characters find balance and relevance in the middle of chaos. He mixes a lot of current references, such as the old school side of street art, and for this reason his work has been recognized throughout Brazil and abroad.

In 2009, Pirecco decided to travel to Canada with his wife to expand his cultural knowledge and gain professional experience in different settings. Vancouver was the destination, and it proved to be a good one. Pirecco immersed into the local culture, making lots of friends and working on challenging graphic design and fine arts projects. None of these experiences though, could have prepared him for his next challenge, Cancer. After returning to Brazil, he was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma. He immediately began treatment. For Pirecco as well as many others, this type experience was life-altering. From that moment on, what was once deadlines and stressful working conditions, all of a sudden turned into a more relaxed and focused way of working. As a result, his work began to take on a new vision, it appeared laid back, his colors became stronger, overlays became more prominent, and in general, as a friend once said, “your work is an organized chaos”.

Pirecco is currently working in his studio where he creates artwork for illustration projects as well as produces experiments in fine arts. To work, he uses many different tools, from freehand designs, his preferred technique, to paintings on various surfaces as well as using digital tools.
