Why do people say, "Instant favorite!" Do you sometimes have to mull it over for a while?

This is me:


Notice the lack of fingernails, or manicure at least, hairstyle, or makeup (can you see that?). A fashionista, I'm not. I just figure everybody has a shot like this on Flickr, and I'm nothing if not a successful follower.

I wouldn't describe myself as a photographer, but I am trying to take more pictures lately. I'm trying to stop taking so many pictures of my cats and branch out into the rest of the world. Since I started getting into photography, I've noticed that my mind is always looking for something that would be fun/interesting to shoot. It's almost like a disease.

I've finally gone pro and started organizing things. Hopefully my sets will be a little easier to peruse than my straight photostream.



Ok, as of 7/18/08, I own my first DSLR. I'm having a lot of fun learning how it all works, and I look forward to boring you all to tears with my incessant flow of mediocre shots. Hopefully, now and then there'll be a good one.



Side note: I really like Flickr, but I don't get the "Post one, Comment five" kind of groups. Do you really want people commenting because they have to, or do you want people to comment because your stuff is good? I'm more a fan of the latter, myself. Also, why do people find it ok to put a note suggesting a different crop to someone's shot? I get it if it's asked for, but if it's not? How rude.
