I’m an amateur photographer from York in Northern England. I bought my first proper camera in 2003, a Minolta Dynax 5 film SLR with a standard kit zoom. I bought that camera to take on a trip around the world with me and I used it to record my travels. Somewhere along the way, and without really realising it, I became hooked on photography and I have been shooting stuff ever since.

I shoot what appeals to me at the time, whatever is going on, wherever i happen to be, an idea in my head or something that catches my eye. I take photographs principally for my own enjoyment and as a creative outlet.

I enjoy and admire the work of many photographers both past and present and there are also many many amazing photographers on Flickr and other photography sites and the quality and diversity of work you see posted on these sites is inspiring, astounding and sometimes intimidating all at the same time.

I am also inspired by the work of non-photographic artists and painters, not least my partner Carolina Alarcon.

My photographs are copyrighted and may not be reproduced, copied, edited, published, transmitted or uploaded in any way without my prior permission.

I will often permit the use of my photographs in a non-commercial venture (e.g. blogs, community websites and publications etc) but you must ask my permission to do so first. In these instances I ask only for a name credit under the image. I am also happy to donate my work or my services, as far as i am able, to charitable organisations.
