By 'profession' and inclination I am a technician. That is to say that I can design things from scratch but I prefer to work on things that other people have already designed.

I see most things in straight lines and functionality and in these things I see beauty and order. Perversly, in other areas of my life I am often chaotic, eccentic and esoteric. I walk my own path. I do not believe I have any artistic talent and try to approach my photography methodically and clinically. I frequently miss composition and strive for technical perfection, something else I frequently miss.

I rekindled my interest in photograhy a couple of years ago with a phonecam. Eventually I bought a Fuji Finepix s9500 which I think is a fabulous 'bridge' camera, even allowing for its primary obvious limitation of low light performance, but outgrew it in about 12 months as I began to get more adventurous with what I wanted to do. I have just traded up to a Nikon D80 with am 18~135 zoom lens which I am still getting to grips with. On the wish list at the moment is a Macro lens and a very long telephoto.

I now have a Sigma DG 28~300mm zoom lens which I use as my 'standard' lens.

Some of my pictures are taken with a Sony Ericsson 850i Camera Phone.
