I am a retired local government worker, having worked in Social Services, Education and Arts services, in Inner London. I now live on the south coast of England. Apart from my series on Southwark Public Art, most of my Flickr stream is made up from images I put onto greetings cards, to sell for charities. That is why they have more Photoshop (Elements 6 actually) work done on their presentation. The Public Art series was done whilst working for Southwark Arts Team, on a personal basis, as I discovered that although the borough has a wealth of artworks in its streets, squares and parks, no one had tried to get a fairly comprehensive record of it. Even so I am sure there are many other hidden gems around. Terry Cavanagh's book on South London sculpture covers just that and very well and the Public Monuments and Sculpture Association don't always have the hottest photos in their database, which again misses out murals and other works not sculpted.
Anyway I am now miles from that and must get back to the scenery, country and coastal, and the wildlife, with some country churches thrown in. I will try and keep my images reasonably good quality unless there is something quirky or daft I want to share.
Having done a bit of work with photo archives in Southwark, I am now working my way through my father's railway photo albums and some older photos from my grandfather, both ones he took and ones he collected, scanning and uploading them. There seems a satisfying amount of interest in them, so I will persevere with the project.
Please enjoy my photos - they are there for you - I have already seen them! Please let me know if you want to reproduce them.
