Please no glitter or gaudy or group invitations in the comments section of my stream. I value your opinions in your own words, and all that stuff gets in the way of my appreciation.

Much of my work is now available only to my Family and my Flickr Friends. If you wish to become a contact of mine and share with me, then please write to let me know.

October, 2008

I arrived here, on April 11, 2007, to renew my connection with photography, did not expect to find such friendships and inspiration, certainly not the confidence to finally begin what had eluded me for decades – the story of my life. Now the story has become my life. It is what I do.

'Penelope's Odyssey', Episode 7: 'Chorus' (eighth of thirteen) by penelope's odyssey

My name is Penelope, though most call me Penny. I’m not all that patient, but I’ve waited a long time for this. This is my odyssey!

I choose my contacts with care. They speak to me; they connect with me. We communicate. I'm here to learn and share, not to collect.

And please, no glitter or things that dance or flap or lick or otherwise annoy. I prefer it in your words.

If you wish to use any of my images or writings, please contact me first.

    O Caritas says:

    "Penny is one of The.Most.Thoughtful.People.On.The.Planet.

If someone were to ask me what it takes to be a good friend, I would merely point in Penny's direction and say, "Go. Follow.""

"I think its time I updated my testimonial for my friend Penny :)

I now know a lot more about the complex person that Penelope really is, her wonderful caring and creative nature, the fact that she has so much inside her bursting to get out; her words and pictures are only part of this, Penny is developing the confidence to create this wonderful odyssey which will soon have a life of its own, I count her as a great friend and I love her. I cant wait for the day she comes to the UK for her book signing and we meet :)

    The old testimonial :-

Penny has a crow as a pet how cool is that !, I know nothing more about her or her life but she takes some cool photos, has a great sense of humour so what more do you need, if you ever find an injured vulture she's your girl for sure, please encourage her to take more photos and let us watch her photography skill and flickr stream develop together."

    stephishere says:

"I should not be surprised that the meaning of Penelope is this:
"It is of Greek origin, and its meaning is "weaver". From "pene". Mythology: Penelope, wife of Odysseus, fended off suitors by weaving during the day and unraveling at night a tapestry she said had to be completed before she would wed another husband. The name has come to signify a loyal, capable, and clever woman."
Everything about her is woven in her stories and photos. The unraveling is done as I read each one and I still get tangled in a pleasant mess that I keep with me through the day. I am hooked and so will anyone else who treads here for very long!"

    Got Xiney? says:

"It's no mistake that Penny has what can only be termed as a cult following. She gives us glimpses into her odd life through her photos and what she writes about them. Her comments are insightful and refreshing, and she visits friends often to see what we're all up to. Lastly, I know I'm not the only one to take a picture of something simply because it reminded me of her - seems that just about everyone on her contact's list has been inspired to relay back a bit of their lives in return.

Thank you for your friendship Penelope, you are my favourite flickr'r!"

    jhawke says:

"from her very first email, i knew penny was one of those good souls. you know the ones: valuable because of their rarity and precious because of the light they bring to your life.

she has a sensitive eye for detail, a seemingly innate ability to find beauty in the most unexpected places, a gentle-but-strong spirit, and a way with words that makes them positively flow right off the screen. her photos speak to the place in your heart that craves friendship, family (the kind with birds and dogs!), familiarity, found fonts, and just plain fun.

... her photos are like coming home.

thank you for being such a treasured friend, penny."

    Olga Gerrard says:

"I don’t even know where to begin – each time I open her stream, there are so many exceptional images, taken from such a thoughtful perspective, and with a true eye for beautiful simplicity, but she also has mastered a technique that makes things she sees magic. This is not a pool where you can stop at just one or two shots – it is indeed an odyssey through nature, beauty, life, and the world through Penelope’s eyes. A sublime journey, one I shall enjoy for a long time to come."
