Living in Perth, WA and working in the City. Main hobbies are playing bridge and photography. I love getting out and viewing the natural world. I have gotten hooked on finding and photographing wild orchids, secondary to that birds, animals, and other plants. Portraits landscapes and cityscapes crop up occasionally when the mood takes me.

The earliest camera I remember using was a Kodak box camera which used 620 film and is still in my possession; this was followed by an instamatic; Canon AE1; Minolta; Sony Cybershot; Nikon D40X and the Nikon D90.

Now the proud owner of the D7000, which focuses instantly, so hopefully less shots of empty sky where the bird has flown! Also real 3D tracking. All previous lenses work with this camera, and the quality of photo, as promised in various independent reviews, is excellent.

Hmmm that makes 8 camera in 45 years... not too bad, unless you look at just the last few years, which score 5 since 2000! However photography has clearly taken over as my main hobby, I am rarely out without a camera bag on my shoulder as you never know when you might find something exciting - example the female collared sparrowhawk who flew across the road in front of me one afternoon www.flickr.com/photos/pearson_gj/5733241310/in/set-721576...

Most of the photographs on my Flickr site are taken in Western Australia or southern England. A few shots were taken in transit or on holiday in other places. I still have not scanned photographs taken prior to digitalization.



For other who may find it helpful - I use 'Flickr Groopy' to automate the shifting of photos from one level of View groups to another. It is a useful tool to speed up the process.
