I'm your typical graduate student who is finishing a Ph.D. in mathematics. For the last few years I've taken a hobbiest interest in photography. I've spent most of that time trying different types of photography to see what was most appealing to me artistically.

Originally, I started shooting with a Sony DSC-F707 in 2002 and moved onto a Nikon D100 a few years later. While I now prefer shooting slide film as opposed to taking digital shots; the cost of shooting film is too much for my budget to move exclusively to that medium. I've found that I enjoy shooting pictures with emphasis on geometric and textural aspects of the subject. While I enjoy color photography; I like my black and white shots the best, as they allow for a higher emphasis to be placed on the geometric and textural aspects of the picture. I like shooting still life, city and night scenes primarily.

I have no formal training in photography; but I have read and used quite a variety of films and lens in the 35mm format. While I think medium format is cool, I love the portability and quality of 35mm slides too much to give them up. For the last year or so, my photo hobby has taken a back seat to my Ph.D.; but I hope to get back into it when I finish in the next few months. I hope you enjoy these photos.
