While others struggle to juggle, tricky metaphors
I explore more, to expose the core - guru

Photography has been a great release for me and for a while I couldn't figure out why I gravitated towards it. Then I was reminded that my Dad was/is an avid photographer in his spare time as I grew up, which explains the countless slide shows we used to have to watch. Now I remind my family all the time to check out my photostream on Flickr and suggest a new kind of slide show. 9 years ago I was the first in my family to own a digital camera and now I'm the first to get a dSLR. Wonder whats next...

I like to shoot most anything but tend to try to find the odd or unique angle to capture, too look at the same thing but in a different way. I've been having fun with pre and post production techniques
here's a slideshow of my most interesting photos, according to flickr

radiospike photography says:
"There's no bigger fan of Southeastern Michigan than Paul Hitz and it shows in his work! Paul has a wonderful eye to find historical objects... or everyday objects. I really admire his skill in finding taste for every meaningsful shot. I am proud of put him as a Flickr friend.
He has also been a great leader of our Exposure Detroit group. I know it's a thankless job at times but his enthusiasm for the group has kept it thriving and growing over the past year. I've enjoyed any chance I get to shoot alongside this talented bastard!"23rd March, 2008

"Mr. Paul HItz. I can only say so much about this cat in the few short months I've known him. Energetic, fun-loving and full of life. How does he do the things that he does with a camera is beyond me. I'll say this much, because of him, Fuzzytek, and a few other photographers I know, I do more photography now than I did drawing. But this dude was AND is a master at his craft. Paul is to photography what Rivera and Pollock were to canvas. He's that gifted. In fact, he insisted that I get a pro account. Because of him I now have one AND he even added one of my photos [I forgot which one] to his favourites. We were supposed to gotten together with other photographers downtown and due to a schedule conflict I missed that opportunity but I made up for it by shooting the area and posting a blog on myspace about it. Paul commented on it, and he liked it!"

"Paul is a great contact who is steadily developing his own creative style that shows the best of Detroit and the areas surrounding it. Not only does he have some really neat, creative shots, but he is willing to go the extra mile - whether it's to get another great shot or to help someone out.
Thanks, Paul!"7th August, 2007

One Foot Over The Moon says:
"Who knows why some people hit it off and others don’t. It seems to me that Hitz would likely do well with anyone; a rare quality. I may not be able to write a book about him (for all I know), but he’s pleasant enough to be around, so given time; I’ll get the scoop and keep you posted. ;)
For now, this I know for sure…
Will he take your picture behind your back? You bet cha. I will too, so don’t turn your back when I’m around.
Will he help out if he can? Sure, wouldn’t you?
Would he buy you a cup of coffee? I’m not tellin’. :|
And… he drinks coffee, he takes pictures, he’s got a nice camera, he’s always in more than one place at one time, he travels a lot, he loves Astoria’s in Greektown, I’m pretty sure he doesn’t gamble, but I’ll bet he’s giggly when he drinks… his family’s cool, he’s anally self-disciplined, (sorry), if you’re a decorator… he needs help, (sorry again), he likes Frisbees, his internet groups, flickr, baseball, and the Tigers, you can find him in Royal Oak from time to time (unless he’s not home), he’s never home, he’s always out, he can’t cook (I’m guessing), he eats carry-out (A LOT), he doesn’t have pets (I’m guessing), he’s always thinking/plotting, he’s responsible (wait, I covered that under “anal”), I can’t recall what his butt looks like… so don’t ask (but I think it was fair-to-“not bad”), he’s secretive and always on top of things, courteous, curious, friendly and outgoing, and he has all his own teeth (I think). I don’t know what kind of car he drives but he has a real job, he’s single, he dates, he doesn’t talk much, but he’s always there… and he sleeps in his baseball cap.
(I lied about that last part. I don’t know for a “fact” that he sleeps. :D)
What else would you like to know about him?
Ask him. He’s not shy. (Though technically, he is.) If you’re looking for the “heads up” about his photography… don’t be lazy; check out his stream. :p"24th February, 2007

Mike_tn says:
"Paul takes pride in his home turf of Royal Oak and Metro Detroit which offer up the subjects for bulk of his photo stream. He takes what is in front of him and expresses it in a variety of unique ways. No subject or technique is off limits for him to try. He has become quite skilled in creating the picturesque panorama of natural and city skylines, and architecture. He has done successful professional image work as well, some samples of which are on his flickr pages too. He funneled his funding back into his love for shooting by purchasing a Canon XTi with the profits, showing how dedicated as he is to photography. With his new gear he recently has done finer photo artistry of both nature and the urban landscape. Always interesting. Never boring. Check him out. You won't be disappointed."

"Ok about the HITZ man... He is the first person besides my sister (one foot over the moon) from Flickr that I have gone shooting with. I really can't believe after the first shoot he wanted to go shooting again with with us, we are alittle crazy... But anyways, He is on his way, he has a great veiw of his subjects, always looks at things from great angles and even has the guts to camera toss (not me!!!) Can't wait to see the Xti in the air... lol I love seeing what he has next to post and hope to have him as a friend for a long in the future. Shoochies to ya Paul"
