Art-making has always been a big part of my life. I have my B.A. in Painting and Drawing, and still love doing that, but I turned to crafting when my daughter was born in 2004. I needed a process that would fulfill my need to be creative, but that was neater and less demanding in terms of set-up.

It started when we received a beautiful patchwork quilt from my husband's grandmother. I immediately wanted to make one myself. So I began working on a small quilt using old clothes, sheets, thrift-store fabric, and a scrap stash from my mom. Then I tried my hand at embroidery, which led me to find a temari book at the library. I started making temari in 2006 and it has been the craft that I've worked on the most consistently the past four years.

I have always been drawn to bright colors, geometric shapes, and symmetrical patterns. Temari are gorgeous and unique objects that embody all of these elements. Also, they are small and portable projects to work on, making them perfect for picking up and working on during a few moments of free time.

I sell my temari on Etsy and Artfire, and at the occasional craft show.
