"Your first 10,000 photographs are your worst." - Henri Cartier-Bresson

I'm a dad, a husband, a social software engineer, an avid fan of Christian spirituality, a motorcyclist/biker, a failed church planter, on a mission from God, a fan of hippie jam bands and pretty much any organic music, a hiker and mountain biker, father of two miracle children, a web community aficionado, a budding photo geek, a brisk driver, graying quickly and with momentum, a fan of nature in all her glory, slimming down, a reading NUTCASE, and a friend of a Hebrew wanderer.

I want to be good at shooting people creatively, and particularly in ways that express true personality. I'm working on a variety of photo skills, but I really want to be good at people shots - planned or candid (I prefer candid images, but maybe that's a phase).

Gear:

Digital:
I use a Canon 30D with BG-E2 grip and with these lenses in the bag:
- EF 24mm f1.4L
- EF 50mm f1.4
- EF-S 10-22 f3.5-4.6
- EF 24-70 f2.8L
- EF 70-200 f2.8L IS
- Canon 100mm f2.8 macro lens
- Canon 430EX Speedlite
- Nikon SB-24 flash
- Gadget Infinity wireless triggers

Panasonic Lumix LX2

Film:
- Lomo LC-A
- A pair of Olympus XA2, one loaded with BW film and one with slide film for cross-processing
- Canonet GIII QL17
- Holga 120FN
- Polaroid One600

I just scored these musty old things at a garage sale-y thing on craigslist. All free, and all worth playing with:
- Polaroid Land Camera Model J66
- Polaroid Land Camera Model 80a
- Polaroid Land Camera 900 Electric Eye
- Jiffy Kodak (takes 620 film)

Bags:
- Lowepro Stealth Reporter 400AW (my favorite bag except it's a pain to carry over distances, and doesn't have a laptop slot. Great for photoshoots though.)
- Lowepro Slingshot 300 (my everyday bag when I don't need to pack a laptop, but the single strap isn't super comfortable on long days if the bag is loaded down)
- Lowepro Fastpack 250 (purchased for upcoming trip to Europe; less lens packing space than Slingshot but adds 15" laptop. Will it force me not to overpack? Time will tell)

Series I'd like to start:
- "My Bartender/Barista"
- "Asleep on the Bus" (Yay! Started it)
- "Bicycles of the Northwest" Started it too.
- Basketball Hoops

"I wish I could shoot people half as well as Pat. He has a great eye for living and the moments of every day life. In addition to that he's a fairly cool guy, even if he does a Harley."

"I really enjoy seeing Pat's photos appear on my Contact's page. He has a great ability to capture the beauty in an ordinary scene. He takes his camera with him everywhere it seems and he takes shots throughout his journey to work and around the Snoqualmie Valley. I feel like I'm seeing the world through his eyes and I like what I see. Keep up the great work!"
