I'm not sure if I officially fall into the category of "amateur photographer", but I've been known to give myself that title in some forums. I don't yet have a firm grasp on what subjects I prefer to capture in photo form. I believe I would rather not stick to any certain subject type, to be quite honest. I don't see reasoning for restricting myself with such limitations. I simply shoot what I find beautiful when I happen to have a camera with me. Being somewhat anti-social, I do tend to gravitate more towards unpopulated areas.

I also wanted to make a note here for those folks who censor their Flickr contacts and/or get paranoid when someone they do not know favorites one of their photos. I believe that Flickr created the ability to favorite a photo for the reason of showing the photo uploader that their photo was liked by some other Flickr member. This is logical and makes good sense to most people. If you take offense to people favoriting your photos without leaving a comment also, then I suggest you disable the ability for your photos to be favorited. I rarely comment on photos that I mark as favorites. There are some times that I desire to show my appreciation for a certain aspect of a photo in the form of leaving a comment, but more often, I simply like the way the photographer composed and captured the photograph, so I mark it a favorite and move on. Don't take offense when someone marks your photos as favorites. Be proud of yourself for being able to create something that after you've shared it publicly with the entire world, that someone actually likes it.
