Decomposition and composition. Everything comes down to this. Just as life requires decomposition of life to recompose itself endlessly...

I look around me, grabbing grasping for something, anything. Everything is so complicated and nuanced, nearly impossible to grasp. The world swirls around, and I reach out, attempting to compose the fragments into a whole… And it stops, fixes itself however briefly and swirls away again. So as my composition breaks down, my compositions break down too, and I become decomposed, a shambles of a man. And then I have these, my images, these photos, a blink of an eye, my eye, for you. An idealized instant out of the mundane chaos that is my life.

Repetition is essential to continue to approach the perfection I seek and never quite reach. Here you get to see my continued striving toward that something that can never be. Call it mystery, unresolvable mystery, or that beautiful uncertain state of unrequited love. Give it whatever name you prefer, the names of a thousand gods or the formulas of unsolvable equations that attempt to pin down the elusive all encompassing truths of science. I will be there looking in, gazing longingly, trying again and again to be a part of it all. Reaching for the light...

Descomposición... Quisiera decir que también hablo español. Hispanohablantes pueden ofrecer sus comentarios sin cambio de idioma...

Italiano, française, português... pues, solamente puedo leer.

Russian, Mandarin, Nahuatl, Serbo-Croatian, Farsi, Finnish, Azerbaijani, Urdu, Xhosa, Basque, Georgian, Arabic, Tagalog, and Cuban: Beautiful languages I have no hope of understanding in this lifetime... nevertheless, I long to see their exotic fonts gracing my life.

You are encouraged to buy prints to help keep me afloat for another round. Gallery-quality, archivally processed, darkroom prints are available of my black and white photos, hand printed by the artist. Write me if you're interested.

I would love to photograph you, too. Chances are I live a thousand miles away or more, but I think it would turn out really well, I really do...

Out of respect for my muses, I do block porn hounds.

"Daniel captures moments which somehow seem to be stolen from our dreams. Like ancient memories, they have a life before I have ever seen them, and continue on -- somehow verified by finally existing in a the real world. Sensual, romantic, beautiful, intoxicating, and brilliant!

    Thank you."

"Daniel's images are at once familiar and wildly confusing; recognizable and friendly yet distant and scrambled like AM radio.

Somehow, viewing Daniel's stream leaves me trying to piece together the memories of a location I've never been to."

    "Daniel's photography is mind blowing.
I keep constantly looking at his stream- it's some of the most inspirational, beautiful work on flickr.
His photos havea magical atmosphere- dreamscapes in which lights stretches its rays like butterfly wings, and the human body takes on the forms of water and images of visual poetry. Eyes shine with emotion, skin is enveloped in shadows; the amount of beauty makes you gape with awe.
His photos make you appreciate the untouched splendor of film and the gleaming speckles of seemingly never-endingly joyous moments in life.
His work is astounding and I am immensely impressed.

    [brett walker] says:

"If photographs say more about the photographer than they do about the subject then Daniel's work shows a depth of meloncholic emotional inteligence rarely seen anywhere,he touches nerves that have been dormant in me since I was a 5 year old,I never need to think about his work I just feel it, these images inspired me to buy an isolette it was as pointless as buying a Quill pen and hoping to write a sonnet.
Daniel is unmatched and his work as painful to look at as it is awe
    inspiring."

    calvin's dad says:

"I have a whole mythology built up around d.composed and his partner-in-crime muse. How they spend their days roaming countrysides, streams, and abandoned buildings looking for that perfect picture. There's a giddy moment when they spot it, and she races off to pose, clothes strewn behind her, while he readies the camera. Fearlessly she walks naked into the thickets, into the river, onto the public sculpture, behind the house. he follows, contorting his body to avoid the tree limb, slides on his stomach like a snake through the high weeds, balances on the slippery river rocks. All for that detail, those shadows, that cacophony of every which way, all to frame his muse."

And without fail, each image leaves my eyes desperately grasping at invisible photons and aching for more."
