I intend to live forever -- so far, so good! A long time enthusiast changed to digital when the Nikon FE (what a great camera!) was stolen. Now a Canon owner: 300D > 20D (broke) > 40D for a week then returned > 30D. Lenses include Canon 17-40, 24-105, 400/5.6, 70-300 IS, 100/2.8 macro and Tokina 12-24. My "most interesting" photos (according to flickr and thanks to siderevs) can be seen here. Or you can learn a lot about my flickr life from my BigHugeLabs 'DNA'. I like all kinds of photos, which means I hover between a (no-doubt) fine eclectic taste and thoughtless indiscriminance. Current enthusiasms are for birds, panoramas, birds, landscapes, and birds. I seem to have become addicted to bird photography, which is better than some of the alternatives. I guess. Special photographic interests apart from the above include a desire to create photos that reflect what the eye sees, better than what comes straight out of the camera. This is technical but reflects the difference in contrast between real life observation and a paper or screen representation, and the difference between effective focal depth seen by eye and what the camera does. Current photo-objectives include getting back to taking photos of people, and learning more about lighting and the use of flash and strobes. I love pithy quotes, here's a few more ... I love deadlines. I like the whooshing sound they make as they fly by. (From Douglas Adams, Robert Heinlein, don't know, don't know, Douglas Adams, Jimmy Buffett) ![]() create your own visited countries map I'm Male.

Testimonials"A wonderful photostream that is always different and stunning. I love seeing what is new here and recommend you do the same!" "Although Julian has some of the best shots of Aussie birds (and other Aussie subjects) you're ever likely to see, the thing I most enjoy about his work is that he lets you in on his entire birding experience with great captions, detailed descriptions, and even photo essays; all infused with infectious humour. He's my favourite contact." |
