-- The capital city, Khartoum - where many people have sought refuge over the last two decades, but still live in the poorest suburbs where they lack economic opportunities and access to essential services

-- The eastern Red Sea State, one of the most neglected regions of Sudan, where we support livelihoods and education projects in urban slums and remote, isolated rural areas

-- Southern Sudan, one of the world's poorest and most under-developed regions, recently emerging from decades of civil war which left 2 million dead and 4 million homeless. However, the peace agreement that ended the war looks increasinly fragile.

-- Darfur, the region in the west of the country, currently home to one of the world's largest humanitarian emergencies. Ongoing violence and brutal attacks on civilian villages have forced over 2.5 million people to flee their homes, and left 4 million people in need of aid. Oxfam currently provides 500,000 people affected by the conflict with vital clean water, sanitation and livelihoods assistance
