...the older i get, the more i believe in things i cannot see or otherwise detect with any human sense. and the more i doubt the reality of what i do see. logic and science does not always apply to faith, simply, because it does not need to. otherwise, it would not be called faith, would it? arrogant and ignorant are the fools who do not believe in any higher power other than themselves (or another human).

slow down and capture a kodak moment....because if you blink, it will be gone forever. just like my beloved kodachrome. oh, how i do miss kodachrome! i suppose since i grew up on kodachrome color, and the way the world was perceived through this wonderful medium, a world of normal colors looks rather dull to me now. which is why i like replicating as close to possible that film. it's what i'm used to and it's what makes me feel happy. my panasonic lumix comes pretty close.

recently i acquired a photo/film/slide scanner. i have literally thousands of images on these media tucked away in shoe boxes, which i have carried with me for as long as i can remember. some of the images have been long-forgotten, especially the ones of family members who are no longer living. i never, ever destroy a photo...but it has reminded me of something....

i wish "snapshots" were in vogue again...you know, the candid shots, when everyone carried around a little kodak brownie or a little kodak instamatic and there was always the guy shooting the family events. each one told a story, and they were not staged. it was the real deal, it was a real moment in time, a candid moment, and it was always so much fun waiting to get the film developed. it was like a special holiday each and every time. not many people in the now generation will ever experience that feeling, thanks to digital. the photos i most enjoy looking through are the flickr members who post this type of image, not the impersonal, perfectly posed, centered and composed ones. i could go to an art museum for that. i love the images that are spontaneous, spur of the moment, not at all well-thought-out, and yet, somehow ingenious, because they have managed to portray more than just a pretty reflection. the accidental shot, the weekend amateur, the ones that professionals would dismiss.

while i love all the arty stuff people can now do with digital technology, it just seems something is missing. i mean, the lovely artwork is amazing and the photo manipulation...we all do it....the flowers, the landscapes, surrealism, rendering the photo to look beyond real and beyond life through editing...but it leaves me a bit, well, cold. and the internet is literally saturated with it. while i used to "oh and ahhh", now i "ho and hum". where has the personality and the character of yesteryear gone? you know....the kodak moments in life... it seems photography is so now totally focused on art, posing and inanimate subject matter, that it has somehow turned into just that....art, not photography as originally intended.

is seems so ironic that so many folks are going for that "vintage" look by layering and texturing their photos, and yet, snapshots are normally thought of as not being exactly professional or arty. well, my old snapshots most assuredly have that vintage look, complete with scratches, fading, vignetting and tears....time has taken care of that for me.

i realize how happy i am that i have all my memories tucked away in those old shoeboxes and now i can relive it with my scanner. i just hope that others will take the opportunity to just take a "snapshot" now and again, without all the worry about making it an award-winning shot. because, believe me, someday, no matter what you may think now, that "snapshot" will be a priceless memory. take it from me. i hope more folks will post more of their "kodak moments" out here, among their award-winning masterpieces.

needless to say, i have once again picked up my old minolta xg-1, which i have lovingly carried with me all these years, brushed it off and have re-kindled my love affair with film. a dark room may not be far off in the future.

sometimes only time can truly transform an image into a masterpiece and render it a classic vintage piece of art. but, then again, beauty has always, and will always, be in the eye of the beholder and i, personally, am thankful for that.

as children, we soon get bored once we discover "how it's done", and we move on to other mysteries. are we much different as adults?

i shoot both film and digital and don't discriminate, but i'm beginning to fall in love with the medium format film style.

"It'd be impertinent to give a testimonial for these two but I admire their energy, style and freindliness. I simply do NOT know how Nicky and Lisa find time and the patience to do what they do. Apart from that, the skill in photography, dressing and makeup, styling and imagining are evident to anyone. You don't need ME to tell you, just have a look!"

    *The Tranny Whisperer* says:

"hey, sweetie! you're the best!!! i love being married to you because everyday is so much fun with you....nobody has ever made me laugh like you do and i just would be lost without you.

We laugh so much when we are "getting ready" for a photo shoot....all the crap we have to do for the illusive "perfect" shot....but then when you appear from the bedroom door all "done up", I am truly amazed, and I laugh no more. It is at that moment that I see the "perfect" shot..... and in that instant, I just set the scene and get the camera ready.

Thank you, Lisa, for making me a better photog. Although I will never be a pro, I am always a pro with you. I could not ask for a better subject. You are so poseable.....you are a natural......the camera seems to adore you as much as I do....well, go figure! We both see you through the same lens.

I see you as a girl, I see you as a boy....I see you as a woman and I see you everyday as a man.....but most of all, I see you as a wonderful, kind and loving spirit.

ps: but you need to ask permission before going into my closet! :))

"When I first laid eyes on *Lisatrans T girl* I had a feeling she was special. She drives your desires to new heights and gives you a big reason to run for the soft embrace of her arms. Lisa certainly deserves to be treated with the finer things in life as any lady should. With every superb new photo Lisa posts she proves to her fans that she is the Queen of Elegance!! Sometimes I glare over Lisa's pics for awhile........so when I go to bed I have 'Heavenly Dreams' of her......but enough of my weakness. Hey everybody, listen to me and do yourself a favor and check out flickr's hottest asset, *Lisatrans T girl*. She's wonderful, has a fantastic figure, is classy and elegant, is someone you could have a thoughtful conversation with, enticingly sinful, and a true beauty. Lisa, sweetie, you can always be my wicked enchantress any day of the week!"
