Purpose:
Ouch, My Ego! is your source for independent press and media and serves as a platform for local art, writing, music, and culture in the Rio Grande Valley.

Scope & Focus:
Ouch, My Ego! is a South Texas based arts and culture project focused on encouraging and providing a media platform for local creative expression. We Publish a monthly magazine and make heavy use of a daily blog that hosts local creative writing, journalism, art, photography, and music. The publication’s website maintains a wealth of online-exclusive content as well as a directory of information relating to the pockets of cultural events all around the valley. Ouch My Ego actively encourages and promotes artistic endeavors and forms partnerships with local promoters. The magazine sells branded merchandise, hosts exclusive mixers/fundraisers, and attends local events as a means to cross promote and financially support the project.

History:
Ouch, My Ego! Originally conceived as a one-man operation bent on exposing local art and culture in early 2004 by George Dean. The small ‘zine, following six issues and a seven-year hiatus, has graduated to a fully-staffed publication with the same objectives and new means of achieving them.
