For me photography is much more than 'getting the shot'. This is a hobby that I enjoy on many levels. As a non-pro I can concentrate on both the subjects I love as well as combining photography with activities I love such as hiking.

I work at a computer all day and as such I prefer to keep post-processing to a minimum (5-10 minutes max). I believe post should tweak a photo and allow it to look its best. I don't like post done to the extent that the post becomes integral to the look and feel of the image.

I am mostly a natural light photographer which means I do most of my work outside. I love getting outdoors and enjoy the experience of being out as much as I enjoy the photography. Many times I'll at one of my shots and see not just the beauty of the shot but also my experience when taking it. I'll think about the hike, about the sound of a waterfall, about the feeling of the soft moss on a rock where I sat and took the shot.

I feel very lucky to live and shoot in Ottawa. The city sits at the intersection of 3 rivers and the Rideau canal. We have many beautiful parks and beautiful architecture within the city. Gatineau Park is 15 minutes away and there are literally hundreds if not thousand of interesting places to shoot at within an hours drive.
