I live in Cambridge, UK and retired early from teaching so I have more time for practicing photography. I have many Oriental (mainly) Chinese friends and do a lot of photography for and of them here (there are always several of them living in my house). They have also given me the chance to travel to China and be their guest and I am very grateful for the kind hospitality I have received from them.
I am mainly a studio photographer who tries to get outside sometimes (British weather permitting), but my landscape skills are poor.
Although I have met and photographed several fashion models I like to take pictures of ordinary Oriental girls who often think they have no beauty and transform them into something special.
I appreciate others pictures of ordinary life, especially if there is fun there. I may also like to make humorous comments, but intend no offence. I also welcome humorous comments.
I also welcome criticism as that is the way to improve.

I have no wish to collect a large list of contacts as I will not have enough time to visit and comment on all. So if you make me a contact then it's possible that if your pictures are not of the right thing that interests me then I will not add you for that reason only. I am grateful for your visits and if you comment then I will also return the compliment. My main contact interest is with Orientals. Also don't bother to invite me to join or post to any groups, as usually I'm not interested to do that.

Cameras used:

Canon 50D - but it broke down after 2 months, and then they returned repaired from that fault but with another fault added......

2x Canon 400Ds - arm aching, with battery pack and flash head...don't take out with me very often. I prefer 2 cheaper cameras rather than one more expensive one, because inevitably one will break down just when you need it...I always take 2 cameras when doing any important shooting.

Lenses - nothing special as I don't really want to pay more for my lens than the camera, so just the 18-50 kit lens and the 28-105. Also a Sigma 18-125 which is useful if you just want one lens, but it's just a bit slow. Recently received a Canon 50mm 1.8, a gift from my flickr friend jijis in Shanghai...thanks Jing.

Minolta Dimage A1- handy, adjustable LCD screen and tilting viewfinder which is very useful for low angles.

Minolta Dimage 7i - best non SLR digital camera I ever had and still working fine after 5 years..

Fuji A201 - useful, pocketable 2MP, but slow response.

...and a few others old, but still working.

Many film cameras, several of them old, almost antiques...
