Ironically, my interest in photography began at work. I was asked to research cameras, as ours had finally ceased to function. As I began delving into the websites of the various brands, I realized what an awesome (and I mean that in its most literal sense) and emotive hobby photography is.

I would sneak the little camera we acquired and pretend I was learning its controls. I was, but mostly I wanted to take photos for my own sake. You will notice most of my early work involves office items and that would be why.

Eventually, I was presented with a little Canon point-and-shoot. I still carry it with me. I began exploring my style and my tastes, eventually looking into a dSLR. I was told that only professionals "deserved" a high-end camera and let's face it: photography is an expensive habit. Still, my husband thought I needed one and there it was for my birthday. He is my staunchest supporter.

I prefer style over technical excellence. I like to take odd angles or crop mercilessly. I don't like conventional photos. I never have. Even when I was a small girl and I'd direct home movies, my family called me "Hitchcock" because of my techniques and approach. I've always been known as the "arty" one.

I love the details of modern photography. I want to see every shadow and flaw: the components of life.

I would not say I am "serious" about photography in the sense that I'm out to win a contest or profit from my chintzy art. I just want to share my life in a way that matches my personality. I want you to look at my stream and find out who I am and what interests me. What it is I find beautiful.
