A little about myself

My first love is music. I am a guitarist, vocalist and pianist, and I have a degree in music technology. I am also constantly trying to learn to play other instruments, with varying degrees of success.

I have always been an aspiring photographer, but since moving into my own flat, my musical efforts have been restricted due to noise complaints. As a result my photography has taken precedence, and I feel like I am finally moving forward and improving my skills.

I have to admit to being something of a perfectionist, and I'm not sure if this a good thing or a bad thing!? I love anything done well or with true passion, and appreciate talent and beauty in whatever form they come.

For some reason I haven't uploaded it here - I really should!

I have a variety of cameras, including a Minolta and 2 Nikon film SLRs but none of them work perfectly, so I recently treated myself to a Nikon D3000 to make use of my old manual lenses. My favourite lens is my Tamron SP 90mm Macro f2.8. It has a beautifully shallow depth of field and makes everything I point it at look great.

I love great coffee, but my standards are much higher than those of the average person - after all, I made about 50000 of them this last year!! I love latte art, but find I drink mostly espresso, and I am constantly raising my already high standards as I understand more and improve my technique. I sometimes feel I could make my days much easier by cutting the odd corner, but when I get the feedback I know all my effort is appreciated.

I love getting out in nature
I love walking
I love snowboarding
I am a bit of a secret adrenaline junkie
I love standing on a windy beach holding a hot cup of coffee and staring out to sea. It makes me feel at home
I really want to walk across the country from coast to coast and know that every single step was under my own power
I love to read, but find it all too often gets neglected
I love those gritty, contrasty black and white portraits of weathered, story-telling faces, and am constantly looking for opportunities to put my own stamp on the genre
I love finding new music, and love suggestions from friends
I always find myself coming back to this album... it is one of my favourite ever
