I have been shooting since I was 7, when my father handed me my first SLR and basically told me to go to town. Since then, I have done what I thought life demanded of me - only to realize in my 39th year that I was a photographer first and foremost, regardless of where my career had taken me thus far.

Call it a midlife crisis if you will. To me, it was a belated recognition that I should have done what I love to do - coupled with the relief that I still have time to do it.

I dedicate my work to my late father - who yearned to break out of the daily grind and be a simple photographer, but never got the chance. But of all the gifts he ever gave me, this was the greatest - I just never realized it until now.

Thanks for joining me in my search for the real me, as I live out my father's dream and my own - and hopefully, in the process, capture that elusive but eloquent moment.

"Oh the wonders of Fllckr! Through it's crazy mashups of photography, discussion groups, and sheer randomness I have found a relative-not-really-related-to-me (at least I don't think we are related, you never know...).

Manuel is amazingly talented, extremely generous with his time and love of photography and someone I am glad to call my Kuya (a term of respect and affection, usually for older cousins). Maraming salamat, Kuya Manuel! ^_^"
