I’ve been on flickr since June 2006 and find it interesting, instructive, friendly and obsessive. I had intended to join only a few groups – but the total keeps rising!
Finally decided to put something here because I always look at other people’s profiles before their photostreams!!
I don’t believe any of the jobs I’ve had (and I’ve had a few!) define who I am. Despite my age I still try to look at the world as a child might – with curiosity and wonder. You will not find a particular style in my photostream – I use my camera (currently Nikon D50) like a scattergun – hoping a good target will get in the way sometimes. So you may find something you like and a lot that you do not.
I’ve had a camera since I was about 10yrs old (first was a box brownie), but never called photography a hobby until recently. I have a lot to learn, but believing that you learn by your mistakes, I am a total convert to digital photography. Mistakes cost nothing with digital – unlike film.
I discovered HDR on flickr and was hooked immediately! Even here you will find variety – from “Is that really HDR?” to “Way over the top!”. I love tweaking my shots in Photoshop – sometimes with a feather – sometimes with a sledgehammer, but I do post untouched shots as well.
I’ve been a computer nerd since the Sinclair ZX81.

Ochileer – what does it mean?
One of my other interests is hill walking, but I have not been to the mountains for the last couple of years. However I do still walk in the Ochil hills – 30 minutes drive from where I live in Fife. During the summer of 1995 I walked (off road as much as possible) solo and unsupported 1250 miles from Land’s End to John o’ Groats. An experience I will always remember and treasure – not least because of the people I met on the way.

Music – How I wish I could make it!
I listen to many kinds of music – from classical to heavy metal, taking in blues, rock ‘n’ roll, country & western and much more on the way. Actually I hate putting music into categories. How do you categorize Hayseed Dixie playing an AC/DC tune in bluegrass style or Four Cellos playing Metallica?

Addendum 2012
I was going to re-write the whole thing . . . . . . but . . . .
It will be obvious from my stream that my interests have changed. Most of the recent stuff in my stream is animation - either GIF or video. I have even occasionally attempted some music for the videos when I could not find what I wanted elsewhere. I do still post some photos and try to keep learning more about Photoshop.
