Sami has spent all of his life traveling constantly between Saudi Arabia and the United States. Born in Ohio, raised in both Riyadh and Colorado. His background, in having grown up in two distinctly different cultures, has had an impact on the way he sees the world and people. He believes in the universal language of photographs and how they influence the way we make sense of the world we live in.

He has a degree in psychology from Boise State University in Boise, Idaho and an M.A. in educational psychology from the University of Northern Colorado. Sami stresses the importance of applying psychology to the field of portrait photography. He believes that establishing rapport between the photographer and the subject is one of the main aspects of making a successful portrait.
