Testimonials"Patrick is one of the most amazing photographers I have ever met. He sees things in such a unique and creative way, and knows how to get the most of the image--whether it's w/ his technical camera skills, post-processing talent, or a combo of both, along w/, MOST IMPORTANTLY, his sense of humor. I am happy to have met him and enjoy every chance I get to shoot with him. I hope that someday I will know half of what he knows about photography and life. :)" "Patrick is special, in all the ways that everyone else has experienced. He inspires, he is daring and he tells it like it is. He is like a sunrise, everyday. Kind and flexible and giving is Patrick. I can't wait for that cross country train trip I have been dreaming about." "I love this man. Truly I do. He has such a POWERful way with words and his images never fail to brighten my day. oxox" "About 365 days ago, I met Patrick. It was he who inspired me to pursue my 365s journey. It was he who encouraged me to grow. Thank you Patrick for being such a dear Flickr friend. Your kindness, humour and friendship has touched so many of our lives and we are so much better because of it. I look forward to seeing more of your world and listening to your wisdoms...." "when i first encountered patrick, first on flickr and then in person when he came to new york, i knew i had stumbled upon greatness. yes, his images are evocative and professional and whimsical and evidence of his keen, keen eye. but it's also his wit, his tenderness, his attention to detail, his introspection, his kindness, his passion, his intelligence... it's so rare to find all of these in one good soul. and his good soul has them all, in abundance. i firmly believe that life is about bothering: to look, to see, to question, to care, to do. patrick bothers. he also has eyebrows that could shade a small village, and yet he doesn't trim them. that's greatness, right there." "Well then, I'm a little late to the game on writing a testy- thingy for you Patrick, but I just want to let you know you're a great flickr buddy to me. Thank you for all your help and your wit!" "I spent a wonderful day shooting in San Francisco with Patrick. He walks pretty fast. We walked pretty far. It was a great time. Best of all was just hanging out with this witty, clever and much smarter than I am, artist. I learned a lot, just as I do each time I visit his prolific stream. Patrick, you rock, dude!" "The first photo I saw of Patrick's involved a peach, the shower, and a hidden fork.* I remember commenting and then receiving a special, cryptic message from him about how the trick was done. You can tell the magical artists from the rest of the talented lot by what's left after you know. When Penn & Teller explain the trick they've just performed for you, it doesn't strip away the mystery; it enhances it. That's how I feel about Patrick's photos, especially his panoramas. He can tell me all about the fixed focus and the peculiarities of stitching software, the camera settings and the color adjustments, and I am even more astounded by the streets that seem to bend around the lens or the waterways that go on forever. What makes Patrick worthy of (now) fourteen testimonials is that no matter how much he reveals, he always makes it seem like magic. *It's just like my memory to be close but slightly off—and for Patrick to correct me. It was a nectarine and a knife, not a peach and a fork. See? Still a mystery." "I can never tell if I'm drawn to the visual nature of Patrick's pictures or the stories he's able to implicitly capture on film. He's my favorite visual storyteller, and I never tire of seeing the world through his eyes." "when i think of "flickr friends" i think of how nice and genuine and kind Patrick is. Oh yeah he's a great photographer too...." "Patrick's self portraits! The diversity, the humor, the candor. He has a way with the camera, capturing himself time and again - yet each and every image is individual and unique. I've been following his photostream for quite some time now, yet I'm still discovering absolute gems in his archives!" "O Caritas' photostream is a source of pure quality. His work is so diverse but always superbly creative and I know that I am always in for a nice surprise each time I visit his stream." "Few photographers are as consistently interesting as O Caritas. His work is never boring, because he is always trying something just a little different from what he did before. Everything is fair game for his lens and for his passions. His are always among the first images I look at each day." "Are you ready for a Creative Power? This sums it up. Basically. Oh, and he has a smile that you just can't forget. Gotta love his sense of humor too." "Patrick is constantly pushing the limits. The limits, his limits, all the limits. He eats photography and I think he lives for art. But bottom line is that he is a genuine person who is very encouraging and funny. Great qualities in a friend." "The truth is that i am an amateur and i don't see myself as competent to judge the photos from anybody, but like a simple beholder i can say that Patrick's pics are originals, creatives and smell like spontaneity. But what is more important, is the person behind those pics. Dear Patrick you`re really a nice guy and it has been a pleasure and a honor meeting you. Teresa" "o caritas: watch this guy. he knows how to draw people in to an open commons, and cares about the quality of group interactions. that's a rare trait, and something to learn from. sure, his pictures make your jaw drop; don't forget that! or perhaps you are his best friend, which would be fun. but for most others here, the amazing thing is to notice his natural social instincts. he takes a true interest in a wide range of people, including people he's seeing for the first or only time. he likes the public square, the commons, the open fiesta, and he clearly gets what it takes to keep that going." "Welcome to the open book that is Patrick's life. I believe that the people that share the most about them are the people who have the most to share. Patrick's work is clever, daunting, vivacious, sensitive - and most of all, introspective and inspiring." "If I wrote a testimonial would it take away from the images? This is my greatest hestitation in complimenting O Caritas. For I feel his pictures beg personal discovery, and to try to put into words the experience of finding those 'deep cuts'--well, I'm afraid I might actually diminish the satisfaction for you. But don't let my bias deter you in your visual voyage. You'll find your own gems among his images, I predict...something so personal you will KNOW he speaks directly to you. Go ahead, I dare you." "the photos patrick takes, they're daring. he's never shy to try out something new, never shy to take a risk, never shy to take a really close look at something. he says his portraits are his "attempt at capturing something that is most true about the person", or his "idea of what's most true of that person", and in my opinion, he does this masterfully. i'd love to pose for him for a portrait session. as if his photography wasn't cool enough, he writes songs, too, and is smart and funny to boot. flickr would be a different place for me without him." |
