Catching, recreating or creating that magic moment. Searching with varying attention and perseverance, for that perfect state of being some call happyness, often distracted by technological or plain natural wonders.

Photography has become a favorite means of expression and appreciation, probably because the digital era has opened so many possibilities so fast, and so easily.
Thank you for stopping by. If you add me as a contact, I'd be delighted to visit your stream too. I may not add you back right away.. made a resolution to clean up my years old list before adding more. Once in a while do comment or fav a picture so I know you're an active contact. All the best, and thanks for visiting - André

"The Eyes have it " - current favorite

Sometimes it all sort of gels in a split second. Lucky shot especially with a slowish F10 Point and Shoot.

I do not have too much tolerance for blinking icons and large images in comments, so please avoid posting them, they may be swatted by my cat Kal.

Claim to fame (on Flickr)

The Aquarium Hotel made Flickr Blog's front page on Sep 16's Flickr Blog ( Blue Squares theme) thus raising my daily views to a record 8000+ views on the 17th. Next stop 10,000. Might have to enlist a friendly blonde's help if I can't make it on pure imagery alone.
Tulip-iferous Another all time favorite of mine.

"What is Art? I don't know but I am working on it." - Omiros
In 1957 Henri Cartier-Bresson talked about the Decisive Moment:
"Photography is not like painting.... There is a creative fraction of a second when you are taking a picture. Your eye must see a composition or an expression that life itself offers you, and you must know with intuition when to click the camera. That is the moment the photographer is creative.....Oop! The Moment! Once you miss it, it is gone forever."
"Photography has not changed since its origin except in its technical aspects, which for me are just as interesting" - Unlike HCB I can't resist marveling at technological advances.
"The force of a photograph is that it keeps open to scrutiny instants which the normal flow of time immediately replaces. It would not be wrong to speak of people having a compulsion to photograph: to turn experience itself into a way fo seeing"
Susan Sontag from On Photography.
Soros: "Understand that you may be wrong, especially when you believe too firmly that you're right."
"In a time of universal deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act." - George Orwell
"We are fast approaching the stage of the ultimate inversion: the stage where the government is free to do anything it pleases, while the citizens may act only by permission; which is the stage of the darkest periods of human history, the stage of rule by brute force." --Ayn Rand
"People only accept change when they are faced with necessity, and only recognize necessity when a crisis is upon them." - Jean Monnet
Oh and who am i ? well I 'm rather reserved and like my privacy - sometimes other photogs catch me, like in the Art Show 2006 set, or in the Celebrations set - and I did tag "andre" ;-)

"Click on NCY.andre's link to his works on Flickriver (near the top of his profile page), scroll down, very slowly, and you will find, interspersed with a humorous running dialog with his cats, a subtle and varied vision of life in New York city, fore-fronting some of its characters, its vibrancy, and its shadowy underside.
Throughout, you will find a rich human pulse in his work, replete with diverse, well-observed human types, all exquisitely executed. Just look for yourself - it will prove rewarding."19th November, 2009
