Happy senior! Retired and loving it!!

I am originally from just north of Edinburgh, Scotland. I came here in 1962. I have served in the US Army for 3 years, worked for the VA and U.S. Attorney's Office, and in retail here on the coast the last ten years before I retired.

My time is spent in the garden, walking the beaches, making quilts, knitting, reading, and embroidery. When it is storming I love to to cook and bake!!

I have deep affection for cats and dogs and wildlife in general. I don't have fancy equipment, just a point and shoot, Canon Powershot! My other camera and equipment are outdated, pre-1975!!

I really enjoy the friendships I have made through Flickr! They have seen me through a rough patch and shared my joy at getting new family members and sharing in their antics! It just makes my day to start out wtih my coffee inthe morning and visit with each one of them. Invaribly there will be several that will make me smile........

Being a senior on a fixed income I don't travel far these days and am physically handicapped with arthritis and fibromyalgia. I have periods when I am almost pain free and then periods when it is painful to almost breathe. I take it in stride and get on with living and enjoying life!!

UPDATE; Sadly my beloved Corgi, Peanut, had to be put to sleep and on November 30, 2010 he crossed the Rainbow Bridge. He had had one back knee, (ACL) operated on 2 years prior. Unfortunately the cartelege in the other knee eroded and eventually his back was affected. I could not see him suffer. He could not raise himself on his back legs on Nov.29. and so I had to make the difficult decision.

I tried another puppy almost immediately but after two weeks and falling ill I sadly returned him to my friend. I was not physically able to meet the demands of a puppy. .

Update: January 2011
I have a new family member, Ginger! She was a girl friend of Peanut. She is a long hair daschund with some chahuahua.. She is so sweet and well behaved and is loving her new and active life with me and Toby!! You can see her story and the relationship in my stream....

Another update: June 2011, I have another member in my animal family. Her name is Rosie. She is a rescue kitty from UnitedPaws.org of Tillamook, Oregon. I also got Toby from there. She is 8 weeks old, half persian, half tabby and adorable!! She will be a big girl!! Toby will have a kitty buddy while me and Ginger go for our walks.....
