I'm a 21 year old recent graduate from Northwestern University. Through research grants and study abroad programs I've been able to travel to, do research in and take photos of about 20 countries in the past few years including Serbia, Spain, Israel/Palestine, Syria, Egypt, Uganda and Rwanda.

For the next few years I'll be working at Northwestern designing new Global Engagement programs that better prepare students for participating in responsible, effective, and sustainable global change. The intiative is called the Just Naive Enough Global Capacity Initiative (www.justnaiveenough.org).

One of my favorite components of the endeavor is the OpenShutter Project, a collaborative multi-media project that seeks on the one hand to help young artists and journalists think deeply about responsible media creation, interact with their subjects and break down the barrier between them and the world they capture; and on the other, reinvest in the potential of American citizens to think in complicated terms about far-away places. You can see more of our first output, OpenShutter Uganda, at www.openshutterproject.org
