Broke a few point and shoot film cameras that my parents owned. The occasional funsaver but didn't get into photography until a few years ago.

A combination of a 50 dollar coupon for filling out a health survey and discount code nabbed me a Canon SD200 for cheap. I still have that camera and shoot on it every now and again.

I started coaching high school judo and wanted to document some of the practices and matches. The autofocus of the SD200 was bogging down and the limited ISO meant the flash was always firing. What couldn't be seen in the normal light was the fine mist of sweat. With the flash the scene was illuminated with a snow like effect. I took the plunge and bought a Canon 30D in the spring of 2007.

Formal studies have been on 135 black and white film. I do have a couple of medium format cameras but they see less use. Digital has been a self taught process up until recently. I'm enjoying the challenge of learning photoshop and the infinite possibilities that await my mouse and pen click.

While I've bought some of my gear new, I've been really addicted to picking up used gear. Some of the top of the line toys of yesteryear can be picked up for cheap and subject to my further abuse!

I have way too many film cameras because people are literally throwing them out (Sometimes for a few bucks). I really should downsize but I like trying them out. Ones with the * get the most use. The rest is becoming more of a used camera pile!
