I first held a camera my sophomore year in high school in a photography class. It was just an elective, and there really wasn't any real teaching going on (either that or I wasn't listening right). Needless to say, I was let down by the class. About 2 years later, I went to a friend's cotillion & spent the entire day observing the photographer (a close friend and now mentor). I eventually bugged her with enough questions to become her assistant for the day and any other day she needed me. She'd just hand her camera over, mostly in church services, & I'd shoot. I wasn't very good at first, but the love affair had begun. I found that I loved to capture the candid moments everyone around me was too occupied to notice. Since then, I've gotten a camera of my own & I've gotten much better. Every day is a new learning experience, but I'm having a blast!

Here's a quote that for me sums up my view on photography:
"It takes a lot of imagination to be a good photographer. You need less imagination to be a painter because you can invent things. But in photography everything is so ordinary; it takes a lot of looking before you learn to see the extraordinary."
